The Top Dogs

In 2005 two varieties showed exceptional characteristics in our vineyard.  So outstanding were the parcels we created a new Gipsie Jack range just for them.  They are both very small quantities and may not appear again unless worthy.

2005 Gipsie Jack Malbec

In the Potts Vineyard there is a very small patch of hand tended Malbec.  Malbec is a traditional Bordeaux variety that has been primarily used for blending.  Langhorne Creek provides the perfect climate for Malbec to shine.

In 2005 the Malbec fruit was exceptional.  Instead of blending it away the decision was made to let it stand on its own.

Only 250 dozen of the Malbec were made.  It's just been released.

Malbec is a fantastic red wine when you are looking for a little beast.  Easy to drink, great lunch time red or partner to an Italian meal. If you're looking for something unique, slightly softer give Malbec a try.

Deep red/purple colour.
Nose of Plums and dark fruits with lifted violet and floral notes and some spice.
Palate shows good plummy fruit, with ripe soft tannin and some subtle oak influence.

RRP $28

2005 Gipsie Jack Petit Verdot

Like the Malbec we have a small patch of hand tended split trellised Petit Verdot.  The warm dry conditions experienced in 2005 helped the Petit Verdot reach its full potential.  After the first couple of barrel tastings the winemakers were so impressed they decided this also had to be a stand-alone wine.

There was only 70 dozen of the PV made.

This is a big wine destined to pair with your favourite steak.

Dark Red/Purple.
Fruit driven nose of ripe black/red fruits, lifted floral/perfumed aromas are also present.
Palate shows good fruit weight and some spicy oak.  Has very good length with abundant ripe fine tannin.

RRP $28
